NASLA CELEBRATES LABOUR DAY AND AWARDS MERITORIOUS STAFF
The 136th edition of the International Labour Day was celebrated on Sunday May 01, 2022. The National School of Local Administration – NASLA – Buea, celebrated this day at the institution’s Court Yard.
Presiding at the ceremony, the Deputy Director General of NASLA, Madame ONGOLO Lidwine expressed her delight to be part of the establishment; and her pride in her collaborators. She announced that twenty workers at NASLA were officially singled out and appreciated for their outstanding performances in the year 2021. She encouraged the recognized workers and the rest of the staff to continue to give in their best and always aim for higher heights. The administrator reminded the recipients that such recognitions come with higher expectations, as she cautioned that their lights should not go dim, for any reason.
Madame ONGOLO also applauded the efforts and achievements of the number one staff of the institution, Mr. TANYI TIKU BAYEE, Director General of NASLA, and called for a moment of silence for departed colleagues.
On his part, the staff representative Mr. Samuel MUKETE EYUM thanked the administration of NASLA for making the celebration possible, and announced the body’s Plan of Action is ready for submission. The outlined Plan of Action, according to Mr. MUKETE, incorporates among other things:
- The putting in place of a Health Safety Committee, and a Staff Mutual Fund;
- The operationalization of a Staff Policy, to serve as Internal Rules and Regulations;
- The implementation of a culture of respect for hierarchy and punctuality at work;
- Payment of salaries; and,
- Creation of a budget line for sick and deceased staff, in accordance with the Labour Code.
The rest of the day was punctuated with merry making, eating and dancing. It was an opportunity for the workers to indulge in team building and relax out of the office.
